Travel RN – Cardiovascular Stepdown (CVSD) | 13-Week Contract

Specialty: Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Stepdown (CVSD)
Shift: Nights or Rotating (6:45 AM/PM – 7:15 PM/AM)
Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Requirements

• Active RN License
• BLS & ACLS required
• Experience with epicardial pacing and chest tubes
• Must be comfortable titrating cardiac drips

Unit Highlights

• 22-bed Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4–6
• Self-scheduling available through a scheduling committee
• Block scheduling may be considered based on unit needs

Patient Population

• Bradycardia
• Atrial Fibrillation (A-fib)
• Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT)
• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
• NSTEMI
• Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD)
• Pulmonary Embolism (PE)
• CVA/TIA
• Post-op CABG (Day 1)
• TAVR
• Post-op VATS, Lobectomy, Wedge Resection
• Chest Tube and Tracheotomy patients

Clinical Skills

• Titrate:
  • Cardizem
  • Amiodarone
  • Procainamide
  • Dopamine
  • Dobutamine
  • Heparin
  • Insulin (occasionally)
• Chest tube management
• Epicardial pacing
• Telemetry monitoring (monitor technicians interpret rhythms)
• No ventilator patients

Unit Support

• Charge nurse with patient assignment
• Nursing supervisor available 24/7
• RT available hospital-wide 24/7
• IV Therapy Team performs all IV starts
• Nurse aides available (approximately 1:15 ratio)

Schedule & Orientation

• Nights only or rotating days/nights
• Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation required
• No call required
• Travelers are first to float
• One 12-hour orientation shift with a preceptor

Submission Requirements

• 50-mile local radius rule applies
• Unexpired driver's license must be included with submission
• Any licensing/background issues must be disclosed at the time of submission
• No artificial nails (dress code requirement)

This opportunity is ideal for experienced CVSD or Cardiac Stepdown RNs with strong telemetry, chest tube, cardiac drip, and post-cardiac surgery experience who are looking for a high-acuity cardiovascular assignment.
