Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown (HVTI)
 

Location: Cleveland, OH 44195
Facility: Cleveland Clinic Main Campus Hospital
Specialty: Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute (HVTI) Stepdown Unit
Contract Length: 20 Weeks (13-week contracts also accepted)
Shift: Rotating Days/Nights | 3x12 Hours (7:00 AM–7:30 PM / 7:00 PM–7:30 AM)
 

Job Summary

Cleveland Clinic Main Campus Hospital is seeking an experienced Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute (HVTI) Stepdown Unit. This is an Auto Offer opportunity with 3x12-hour shifts only.

Travelers should be flexible to work rotating day and night shifts based on operational needs. While the facility will make every effort to honor a traveler's preferred shift, shift rotation may be required.

Candidates must also be willing to float to designated units caring for the same patient population.
 

Schedule

• Auto Offer
• 3x12-hour shifts only
• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Rotating day/night schedule as required by operational needs
• Block scheduling is not available
• Travelers must work at least every other holiday

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum 18 months of combined permanent experience in the Stepdown specialty (experience may be combined)
• Minimum 18 months of recent Stepdown experience
  • Recent travel experience will satisfy the recent Stepdown experience requirement
• PCU/Progressive Care experience preferred but not required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must possess an active Ohio RN License or Compact RN License before submission

Required Certifications

• BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
• ACLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
• NIHSS

Required Skills & Requirements

Candidates must have:

• Recent Stepdown nursing experience
• Ability to care for patients in a Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Stepdown unit
• ECG rhythm recognition competency
• Safe medication administration competency
• Flexibility to work rotating day and night shifts based on operational needs
• Willingness to float to assigned units as needed

Floating Requirements

Candidates must be willing to float to:

• J1-2
• J33
• Emergency Department (ED) to care for the same patient population

Orientation Requirements

The following assessments are required during orientation:

• ECG Rhythm Recognition Test
• Safe Medicate Assessment

Candidates must achieve an acceptable passing score on both assessments.

• 18 months of combined permanent Stepdown experience
• 18 months of recent Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted)
• Active Ohio RN License or Compact RN License
• BLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
• ACLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
• NIHSS certification
• Willingness to work rotating day/night shifts
• Willingness to float to J1-2, J33, and the Emergency Department to care for the same patient population
• Ability to successfully complete the ECG Rhythm Recognition and SafeMedicate assessments during orientation
