We are seeking an experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to join a specialized adolescent behavioral health unit for a 13-week travel contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a supportive team in a highly structured, high-acuity psychiatric setting caring for adolescent patients.

Assignment Details

• Position: RN - Adolescent Psychiatric Nurse
• Location: Owensboro, KY
• Unit: Birch Unit (High Acuity Adolescent Psych)
• Start Date: 09/01/2026
• Contract Length: 13 Weeks
• Schedule: Day Shift
• Hours: 48 Hours Per Week
• Shift Time: 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM

Unit Highlights

Birch Unit

• High-Acuity Adolescent Psychiatric Unit
• Male patients ages 12-17
• Maximum census of 10 patients
• Strong staffing support model
• 1:1 Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) support
• Three nurses scheduled per shift (when fully staffed)

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for adolescent psychiatric patients.
• Provide therapeutic nursing interventions and crisis management.
• Monitor patient behaviors, safety concerns, and treatment progress.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Administer medications and document patient responses.
• Support patients and families through education and therapeutic communication.
• Maintain compliance with behavioral health policies and safety protocols.

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse License
• Minimum 1 year of Psychiatric Nursing Experience Required
• Adolescent Psychiatry Experience Preferred
• Current CPR Certification (if applicable)
• Current TB Screening and Health Documentation (if required)
• Must meet all federal, state, and facility requirements
• Must be at least 18 years old
