Description
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care in an Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation setting. The RN will care for patients recovering from neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, and other complex medical conditions while supporting their rehabilitation and safe transition toward independence.
⚠️ HARD STOP: Minimum 1 year of Rehabilitation nursing experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in an acute inpatient rehabilitation setting.
- Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions using the Epic EMR.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and other prescribed treatments.
- Manage central lines/PICC lines and initiate and maintain IV access.
- Provide care for patients with CVA/stroke, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, Parkinson’s disease, seizures, post-craniotomy conditions, and neuromuscular disorders.
- Provide orthopedic care including pulse/CMS checks and care of total joint replacement patients.
- Monitor blood glucose and administer insulin according to established protocols.
- Provide respiratory care including oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry, incentive spirometry, and tracheostomy care.
- Manage feeding tubes, PEG tubes, NG tubes, swallowing precautions, and thickened liquids.
- Perform wound care, pressure ulcer prevention, fall-risk assessment, pain management, and infection prevention.
- Educate patients and families regarding medications, disease management, safety, and discharge needs.
- Utilize appropriate lift/transfer devices and follow patient safety and isolation precautions.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
- May float to Med-Surg and Orthopedic units as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
- At least 1 year of Rehabilitation experience is a HARD STOP requirement.
- Acute inpatient rehabilitation or acute rehab hospital experience required.
- Active California RN license required.
- Pending CA license is NOT accepted.
- BLS required.
- Epic experience required.
- Strong experience with neurological, orthopedic, and medically complex rehabilitation patients.
- Travel experience is not required; seasoned travelers are preferred.
- First-time travelers may be considered.
