🚨 Travel Med Surg/Telemetry RN | Nights | 13-Week Contract
Join a collaborative Medical Surgical/Telemetry team caring for post-operative orthopedic, general surgery, and telemetry patients.
📍 Location: Marshalltown, IA
🏥 Facility: UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown Hospital
🩺 Specialty: Med Surg/Telemetry RN
🌙 Shift: Nights | 36 or 48 Hours/Week
📅 Orientation: August 24
Requirements:
✅ Minimum 24 months of current Med Surg and/or Telemetry experience in a hospital setting
✅ First-time travelers welcome with at least 2 years of recent nursing experience
✅ Orthopedic and General Surgery experience required
✅ EPIC charting experience required
✅ Active Iowa or Compact RN License
✅ AHA BLS & ACLS required
Unit Highlights:
- 16-bed Med Surg/Telemetry unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
- Patient population includes:
- Telemetry
- Post-op Orthopedic
- General Surgery
- Must independently read and interpret telemetry strips
- Experience with the following drips is required:
- Insulin
- Cardizem
- Heparin
- Amiodarone
Additional Details:
- Minimum 50-mile radius (no local candidates)
- EMR: EPIC
- Interviews conducted quickly via 405 area code phone call or text
- On-call pay: $9/hour
- Call-back pay: 1.5x rate (2-hour minimum)
- Charge/Preceptor differential: $6/hour
- Overtime after 40 hours (36-hour contract) or 48 hours (48-hour contract)
Submission Requirements:
- Current resume showing 24 months of Med Surg/Telemetry experience
- Driver's License
- Active RN License
- Med Surg or Med Surg/Telemetry Skills Checklist
- AHA BLS & ACLS
- Professional reference (preferred)

Cons
Lack benefits and perks other companies offer. Was incorrectly paid more than once. The assignment was the worst I’ve experienced from management down to housekeeping. They nitpick travelers on every level and give them double the respiratory therapist to patient ratio with every assignment spread over multiple floors and areas on every side of the facility. Staff makes no attempt at teamwork. Bottom line: Malone is ok🥴 but has MUCH room to improve. Elizabethtown, KY is awful and puts their patients and your license at risk every shift. Don’t do it!
