Description
🚨 Travel PCU RN | Days | 13-Week Contract
Join a fast-paced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) focused on rapid patient throughput, ED decompression, and exceptional patient care.
📍 Location: Asheville, NC
🏥 Facility: Mission Hospital – Main Campus
🩺 Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN
☀️ Shift: Days | 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
📅 Contract: 13 Weeks (Start: September 7, 2026)
Requirements:
✅ Minimum 2 years of recent Med Surg, Telemetry, and PCU/Step-Down experience
✅ Active RN License
✅ BLS, ACLS & NIHSS required
✅ Experience with Cerner preferred
✅ Charge Nurse experience or leadership potential is a plus
Unit Highlights:
- 40-bed Clinical Decision/Direct Admit Unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- PCU: 1:5
- Med Surg: 1:6
- EMR: Cerner
- Baxter IV pumps
- 1–2 CNAs per shift with goal of a free Charge Nurse
- Every other weekend
- No call required
- Floating within skill set as needed
Patient Population:
- Direct admissions from the Emergency Department
- Wide variety of medical, telemetry, and progressive care diagnoses
- Focus on rapid admission, medication reconciliation, and initiation of acute care
- Fast-paced, high-turnover environment requiring strong clinical judgment and teamwork

Th recruiters are super nice and helpful.
Cons
Lack benefits and perks other companies offer. Was incorrectly paid more than once. The assignment was the worst I’ve experienced from management down to housekeeping. They nitpick travelers on every level and give them double the respiratory therapist to patient ratio with every assignment spread over multiple floors and areas on every side of the facility. Staff makes no attempt at teamwork. Bottom line: Malone is ok🥴 but has MUCH room to improve. Elizabethtown, KY is awful and puts their patients and your license at risk every shift. Don’t do it!
