Description
o Unit Information:
O Beds: 21.
▪ Census stays full avg 19.
▪ 3-5 PCU patients avg on census.
O Minimum Years of Experience required? 1-year acute care MS TELE with PCU float is acceptable.
O Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes.
o Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
O GI, liver cirrhosis, CIWA, general medical, IV drug use, occasional trach.
o Patient Ratios:
O RN: 1:5, one 1:6 acuity-based assignments no PCU patients, rotated assignment among staff.
O LPN: 1-2 staffed during the day 1:5-6.
O CNA: 2 on days and nights, 10-11 patients each.
o Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
O BLS.
O NIHSS.
O CPI.
o Skills required:
O Trach care a plus, Amio fixed rate, heparin, pca pumps, High flow, CT management, BIPAP at night, wound vacs, JP drains, IV starts, venipunctures.
O Wound care team for wound vacs, nurses change canister, wet to dry dressing if wound vac therapy fails on night shift.
O Nurses call consults at night.
o Support within the Department:
O CNAs.
O unit coordinator during the day.
O Charge nurse takes assignments on days and nights.
O Nurses draw labs (daily and routine labs).
O IV/VAT Team.
O Resource Nurse RR team Code team.
O Merrit nurses watch Mews scores, available nights and days as a resource.
O RT 24/7.
O Hospitalist 24/7, most admitted to hospitalists.
O Intensivist 24/7.
O Telemetry monitoring/tech? central monitoring tele boxes only.
o Technology/Equipment:
O EMR: Cerner.
O IV Pump: Plum ICU Medical.
O Med dispensing: Omnicell.
O Monitors: none.
O Unit specific equipment: patient lifts,
o Floating: If yes, where?
O First to float to any other mixed acuity unit or MS floor (1:5-6).
o Orientation (facility and unit):
O NEO.
O How many days of unit orientation? 2 days.
o Scheduling:
O Weekend rotation: every other.
O On call? If so, what is that schedule? No.
O Holiday Expectations: 1 major winter Thanksgiving, Christmas day or New Year’s Day.
O Should approval of RTO go through manager or will you allow the interviewing team (if applicable) to approve time off on your behalf? RTO Manager approval.
O Shift times: 645-715.
O Schedule cycle:6-week blocks, available 4-5 weeks in advance.
O No block scheduling guaranteed.
o Other notes:
O Scrub Color: Galaxy Blue.

O Unit Culture: night shift has lots of tenured nurses, team focused.

Th recruiters are super nice and helpful.
Cons
Lack benefits and perks other companies offer. Was incorrectly paid more than once. The assignment was the worst I’ve experienced from management down to housekeeping. They nitpick travelers on every level and give them double the respiratory therapist to patient ratio with every assignment spread over multiple floors and areas on every side of the facility. Staff makes no attempt at teamwork. Bottom line: Malone is ok🥴 but has MUCH room to improve. Elizabethtown, KY is awful and puts their patients and your license at risk every shift. Don’t do it!
