Description

Nurse Manager / Associate Nurse Manager – Obstetrics (OB/L&D)

Shift: Days, Monday–Friday, 5×8s
Hours: 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
On-Call: Every other weekend/holiday for the entire department, including L&D
Important: No additional pay for on-call hours

Must-Have Requirements

  • Previous Manager/Supervisory experience — REQUIRED
  • Minimum 5 years of Obstetrical Nursing experience
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Active Massachusetts RN License
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NRP
  • Inpatient OB certification strongly preferred
  • Kronos experience is a huge plus

Education

  • BSN preferred

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily staffing and ensure appropriate unit coverage.
  • Assign staff based on skills and patient-care needs.
  • Serve as Charge RN when working clinically.
  • Lead shift huddles and review the operational plan with staff.
  • Manage department schedules and employee timecards.
  • Oversee OB Nursing, PCT, L&D Scrub Tech, and UC schedules.
  • Develop, update, and implement nursing policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate staff performance and complete annual performance reviews.
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring new staff.
  • Provide coaching, conflict management, and performance goal-setting.
  • Promote staff professional development.
  • Support quality improvement, patient satisfaction, and nursing practice initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing staff education on policies, Joint Commission standards, DPH requirements, equipment, and clinical software.
  • Coordinate orientation and competency assessment for new staff.
  • Monitor supplies and equipment with the OB Director.
  • Participate in hospital committees and quality initiatives.
  • Provide and assist with direct patient care as needed.
  • Support operations during weekends and holidays.
  • Perform RN duties across Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Special Care Nursery.
