Description
Nurse Manager / Associate Nurse Manager – Obstetrics (OB/L&D)
Shift: Days, Monday–Friday, 5×8s
Hours: 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
On-Call: Every other weekend/holiday for the entire department, including L&D
Important: No additional pay for on-call hours
Must-Have Requirements
- Previous Manager/Supervisory experience — REQUIRED
- Minimum 5 years of Obstetrical Nursing experience
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Active Massachusetts RN License
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP
- Inpatient OB certification strongly preferred
- Kronos experience is a huge plus
Education
- BSN preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily staffing and ensure appropriate unit coverage.
- Assign staff based on skills and patient-care needs.
- Serve as Charge RN when working clinically.
- Lead shift huddles and review the operational plan with staff.
- Manage department schedules and employee timecards.
- Oversee OB Nursing, PCT, L&D Scrub Tech, and UC schedules.
- Develop, update, and implement nursing policies and procedures.
- Evaluate staff performance and complete annual performance reviews.
- Participate in interviewing and hiring new staff.
- Provide coaching, conflict management, and performance goal-setting.
- Promote staff professional development.
- Support quality improvement, patient satisfaction, and nursing practice initiatives.
- Provide ongoing staff education on policies, Joint Commission standards, DPH requirements, equipment, and clinical software.
- Coordinate orientation and competency assessment for new staff.
- Monitor supplies and equipment with the OB Director.
- Participate in hospital committees and quality initiatives.
- Provide and assist with direct patient care as needed.
- Support operations during weekends and holidays.
- Perform RN duties across Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Special Care Nursery.
