Schedule
- Nights
- 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- Able to interpret EKG strips
- Experience using arterial lines and central lines
- Proficient in caring for ventilated patients
- Advanced knowledge of titrating vasopressors
- Must be able to titrate drips
- Negative drug screen required
Unit Details
- MICU
- 20 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
- 1 PCT to 10 patients
- Telemetry is monitored by a tele tech; nurses read and interpret strips
- Intensivist coverage is in house approximately 0700–1900, with telemedicine intensivist support and an attending on call after that
Work Expectations
- Travelers float first
- If floated to stepdown, ratio is 1:3
- If floated to general med, ratio is 1:4
Additional Notes
- 12 hours of non-billable orientation
- Scrubs are not provided
- No specific scrub color required
- Sweatshirts are not allowed
