Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Schedule: 3x12 per week
On-Call: Not Required

Position Overview

Jacobi Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg to provide high-quality nursing care to patients in an acute care hospital setting. The RN will be responsible for assessing patients, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications, providing post-operative care, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Provide direct and compassionate bedside nursing care to pre- and post-surgical patients.
• Administer and accurately document prescribed medications.
• Perform wound care, dressing changes, catheter insertion, and IV therapy.
• Monitor and document patient vital signs and clinical status.
• Recognize and promptly report adverse reactions or changes in patient condition.
• Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment as required.
• Perform telemetry monitoring and accurately interpret and document patient measurements.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care.
• Assist with discharge planning and patient transitions of care.
• Educate patients and their families regarding procedures, medications, treatment plans, and post-operative care.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, medical charts, and documentation.
• Follow established nursing standards, infection-control practices, policies, and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience in a large acute-care hospital setting.
• Most recent Med/Surg experience must be within the past year.
• Experience with:
  • Physical assessment
  • Medication administration
  • Wound care
  • Infection control
  • IV therapy
  • Post-operative care
  • Patient education
  • Telemetry monitoring
• Active New York State RN License with Primary Source Verification.
• AHA BLS certification.
• AHA ACLS certification.
