Job Description

Community Memorial Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a 12-hour night shift assignment on a 10-bed unit. The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population in a critical-access hospital setting and must be comfortable managing both medical and post-surgical patients.

Common Patient Diagnoses

The RN will care for patients with conditions including:

• CHF
• COPD
• Syncope
• Non-STEMI
• DKA
• Wound-related issues
• Total Hip Replacement (THR)
• Total Knee Replacement (TKR)
• Lumbar surgery
• General surgery
• COVID-19

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care for patients with varying medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform patient assessments and monitor for changes in condition.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and other prescribed treatments.
• Monitor cardiac and respiratory status and respond appropriately to changes.
• Care for post-operative patients, including orthopedic and general surgery patients.
• Manage patients with chronic and acute conditions such as CHF, COPD, DKA, and NSTEMI.
• Provide wound care and monitor surgical sites for complications.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation in Sorian EMR.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, ancillary departments, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Maintain a patient ratio of approximately 1 RN to 5 patients.
• Follow hospital policies, infection-control standards, and patient-safety protocols.

• BLS – Required
• ACLS – Required
• PALS – Required
• TNCC – Preferred
• ENPC – Preferred

Community Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed critical-access hospital serving approximately 45,000 residents across 27 communities in Madison County and surrounding areas of Central New York. The facility provides primary and specialty healthcare services and serves as an important healthcare resource for the region's rural communities.

Candidate Requirements

• Current RN license appropriate for the assignment
• Recent Med/Surg or comparable acute-care experience
• Strong assessment and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to manage medical, cardiac, respiratory, and post-operative patients
• Comfortable working independently in a rural critical-access hospital environment
• Flexibility to work 12-hour night shifts
• Candidates within the 50-mile radius are eligible; local rate will apply.
