Pharmacist – Travel/Contract Opportunity

Facility: Kern Valley Healthcare District
Position: Pharmacist
Shift: Day Shift
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Job Overview:
Seeking a Pharmacist to provide pharmacy services across outpatient, inpatient, and skilled nursing facility (SNF) settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, interpret, verify, and dispense medications according to provider orders.
• Perform clinical interventions, therapeutic drug monitoring, and medication therapy reviews.
• Monitor for drug interactions, therapeutic duplications, dosing errors, and adverse reactions.
• Calculate renal function and make appropriate dosing adjustments.
• Compound, package, label, and dispense medications.
• Counsel patients and provide drug information to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff.
• Perform Medication Regimen Reviews (MRR) for SNF patients and participate in CQI activities.
• Supervise and verify the work of pharmacy technicians/ancillary staff.
• Perform medication outdate inspections and maintain medication safety.
• Participate in Code Blue when on duty.
• Document clinical interventions and medication monitoring.
• Follow California Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and FDA regulations.

Required Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required
• Active California Pharmacist License required
• Minimum 1 year of pharmacy experience
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Basic computer skills
• Experience with eHR systems
• Proficiency with Automated Dispensing Units
• Experience with IV Laminar Flow Hood
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and supervise support staff
