Job Title: Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical (MS RN)
Location: Akron Campus, Akron, Ohio

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Shift Length: 12 hours
Schedule: Night Shift

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (MS RN) to provide high-quality nursing care on a fast-paced 36-bed Med/Surg unit. The RN will care for adolescent patients age 17 and older through geriatric patients with a broad range of medical, surgical, trauma, orthopedic, neurological, cardiac, gynecological, and obstetrical conditions.
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience, strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt quickly while caring for a diverse patient population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a 36-bed medical/surgical unit.
- Manage patient assignments with typical 1:5–6 nurse-to-patient ratios.
- Care for patients ranging from adolescents (17+) to geriatric populations.
- Provide care for patients undergoing general, colorectal, abdominal, urological, gynecological, orthopedic, ENT, plastic, cardiothoracic, and spinal/neuro procedures.
- Care for patients with trauma-related conditions and complex medical/surgical needs.
- Provide nursing care for obstetrical-related conditions, including preeclampsia, intrauterine fetal demise, hyperemesis, diabetic pregnancies, and substance-abuse withdrawal during pregnancy.
- Perform assessments, medication administration, treatment, documentation, and ongoing monitoring.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, ancillary departments, patients, and families.
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to float as required.
- Adapt to changing patient assignments in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records and demonstrate recent Epic experience.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible to practice in Ohio.
- BLS certification required.
- Minimum 2+ years of recent Med/Surg RN experience.
- Epic experience within the last year must be clearly documented on the resume.
- Nursing degree from an accredited ACEN or CCNE program.
- Strong medical/surgical clinical skills.
- Excellent assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and time-management abilities.
- Must be willing to float as required.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing patient assignments.
- Solid black scrubs required.
Assignment Requirements:
- RTO must be submitted at the time of candidate submission.
- Maximum 7 days of RTO will be accepted.
- RTO is not permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment.
- Block scheduling is not permitted.
- Candidates requesting or preferring block schedules will not be considered.
- MS RN interview is required.
