• Required Certifications: BLS, NRP & Fetal Heart Monitoring
• Cancellation: Facility may cancel 1 shift every other week
• Floating: May float to Med/Surg when there are no OB patients
• Staffing: RN will likely work alongside an LPN

Job Description

Seeking an experienced OB/L&D RN who can provide care throughout the perinatal continuum, including Labor & Delivery, triage, Mother-Baby, Newborn Nursery, and Couplet Care. The RN will also care for gynecological surgery patients.

The RN will be responsible for all duties within their scope for laboring patients, triage, and postpartum/mother-baby care. The LPN can assist with EFM evaluations, patient positioning, newborn care, and documentation, but cannot perform labor care, triage, or initial assessments independently.

If there are no OB patients, the RN may be asked to float to Med/Surg. Candidates who are not comfortable taking a Med/Surg assignment may still be expected to assist with tasks such as vitals and medication administration.

The unit is small but has strong support. A Transfer Coordinator/House Supervisor is available when additional assistance is needed. In emergencies, the LPN may accompany the patient to the OR to receive the newborn while the RN remains available on the unit for potential triage arrivals.
