Position Overview

• Specialty: Medical / Surgical (30-bed unit; traveler required to float across all campuses: Iowa Methodist Medical Center and Iowa Lutheran Hospital)
• Position Type: Contract
• Duration: 13 Weeks
• Target Start Date: 08/31/2026 (or 09/08/2026)
• Shift: Nights (3x12 Hours)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• (Note: Local radius rule is 50 miles with a 10% reduction to the bill rate)
• Unit Highlights: Unit features an emotional support canine!

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 24 months of Med/Surg experience in a hospital or medical center setting required (post-op surgical experience and specific patient care with hip/knee, mastectomies, and abdominal surgeries highly preferred). First-time travelers are accepted.
• Licensure: Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required at the time of submission (verified via Nursys).
• Certifications: AHA or American Red Cross BLS required.
• Specialized Skills: PCA and Heparin drip experience required.
• Charting: EPIC EMR experience required.

Compliance & Facility Details

• Holiday Requirements: Unless the unit is closed, contractors are required to work 1–2 of the upcoming summer holidays.
• Separation Policy: Past employees of UnityPoint Health (FTE or PRN float pool) cannot work travel in another market within 12 months; the policy does not apply if they previously worked travel at UPH.
