Description

RN – Emergency Room (ER) 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to rapidly assess and respond to patients with acute, emergent, and life-threatening conditions.
  • Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions within the RN scope of practice.
  • Proficiency in emergency nursing procedures, including triage, patient stabilization, medication administration, and monitoring.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple patients and competing priorities in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, paramedics, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during high-stress and emergency situations.
  • Ability to accurately document patient assessments, interventions, treatments, and outcomes.
  • Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and other schedules based on department needs.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Previous Emergency Department (ED/ER) Registered Nurse experience is preferred.
  • Previous acute-care or hospital nursing experience is preferred.
  • Experience with trauma, cardiac emergencies, stroke, respiratory emergencies, and other critical conditions is preferred.
  • Experience with emergency triage and patient stabilization is preferred.

Education

Required Education:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited School of Nursing is required.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required for Emergency Department practice.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required or preferred based on department requirements.
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification is preferred/required based on facility requirements.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure:

  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification is preferred.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification is preferred.
  • Specialty certification appropriate to the Emergency Department is preferred.
