Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• ICU experience
• Level I trauma experience

Unit Details

• 13-bed Surgical ICU
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2, with possible ratios of 1:1 or 1:3
• Common patient types include post-surgical, open abdomen, multisystem trauma, and endovascular cases
• Nurses are expected to titrate drips
• Common drips include pressors, sedation, paralytics, and insulin
• Respiratory therapy is in the ICU 24/7
• Telemetry monitor techs are present; nurses read and interpret their own strips
• Charge nurse support is available as staffing allows, and a house supervisor is on site 24/7
• Patient care techs are on the unit with a ratio of 1:10

Schedule Requirements

• 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
• Every other holiday
• No call or standby requirement

Floating

• Floating is required
• If floated to a lower level of care, the nurse takes a full assignment

Orientation

• 12 hours of non-billable orientation
• Additional unit orientation includes EPIC training, educator time, shadowing, and preceptor time

Submission Requirements

• Last four digits of SSN
• Middle initial
• Requested time off
• Negative drug screen for all panels

Additional Notes

• Local placements are accepted within a 50-mile radius
• Local clinicians within 50 miles are subject to a reduced rate
• No specific scrub color is required
