Description

Occupational Therapist (OT)

Position: Occupational Therapist – Acute Care
Shift: Days – 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hrs/week
Contract: 26 weeks
Setting: Acute Care Hospital / Level II Trauma Center
Call: None
Weekends: None
Late Joint Coverage: Rotating; occasional late coverage until approximately 6:30 PM
EMR: EPIC preferred, not required
 

Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy evaluations and treatments in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Perform chart reviews and develop daily treatment schedules.
  • Evaluate patients and provide appropriate OT interventions.
  • Treat patients across medical, neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, respiratory, trauma, surgical, ICU, and joint replacement populations.
  • Assist with joint replacement patients and participate in the late-joint rotation.
  • Safely transfer and mobilize acutely ill patients with lines, drains, and other medical equipment.
  • Collaborate with PTs and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Document evaluations, treatments, and patient progress.
  • Participate in daily team huddles and coordinate patient care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Occupational Therapist (OT) license required.
  • KSBHA OT license required.
  • NBCOT certification required.
  • BLS – AHA required (must be obtained within first 90 days if not currently in hand).
  • No pending licenses or certifications accepted.
  • No license hits; exceptions not allowed.
  • Acute care hospital experience required.
  • Must be comfortable treating medically complex and acutely ill patients.
  • EPIC experience preferred, not required.

Patient Load

  • Approximately 7–8 patients per 8-hour shift at full productivity.
  • Patient population includes:
    • General Medicine
    • Neuro
    • Ortho
    • Cardiac
    • Respiratory
    • Trauma
    • Surgical
    • ICU
    • Joint Replacement
    • Occasional ED patients
