Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Neurovascular/Renal
Facility: St. Francis Campus – 5SE
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Night Shift
Contract Length: 90 Weeks

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a 38-bed Medical/Surgical Neurovascular/Renal unit. The RN will work in a teaching hospital environment and collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to provide safe and effective patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to Medical/Surgical, Neurovascular, and Renal patients.
• Perform patient assessments and monitor changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and hospital protocols.
• Start peripheral IVs and maintain IV access as needed.
• Monitor patients using telemetry with remote monitoring.
• Develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge planning.
• Communicate patient status and concerns to physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Cerner OneChart.
• Follow hospital policies, safety procedures, and infection-control standards.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced teaching hospital environment.
• Float between 3 hospitals and 1 rehabilitation hospital when required.

• Unit: 5SE – Medical/Surgical Neurovascular/Renal
• Capacity: 38 beds
• Telemetry: Remote monitoring
• Drips: No drip titrations required
• IVs: RNs start IVs; IV team available for additional support
• Blood Specimens: Collected by the laboratory team
• EKGs: RNs are not required to perform EKGs
• Sheaths: RNs are not required to discontinue sheaths
• EMR: Cerner OneChart
• Scrubs: Ceil Blue

Work Environment

This position is based in a teaching hospital and may require flexibility to float between three hospitals and one rehabilitation hospital. Candidates should be adaptable, team-oriented, and comfortable caring for a diverse Medical/Surgical patient population.
