Job Overview
- Location: Medford, Oregon
- Specialty: Med/Surg/Tele General

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oregon
- Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- BLS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Unit Details
- Medical-surgical general medical unit with 36 private beds
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5 on days, 1:4-6 on nights
- Remote telemetry is monitored by a tele tech on a separate unit
- Nurses should have a basic understanding of strip interpretation and lethal rhythms
- No vents; CPAP is used at night for maintenance, high-flow oxygen is common, and BiPAP is occasional and managed by respiratory therapy
- Charge nurse is present 24/7 and typically does not take an assignment
- Break/resource nurse, house supervisor, and critical care outreach RN are available 24/7
- Nursing assistants are available with ratios of 1:7-9 on days and nights
Experience / Skills
- Preferred experience with de-escalation techniques, chest tubes, heparin drips, and NG/feeding tubes
- Must comply with care bundles and accept feedback graciously
- Teamwork is emphasized as essential
Scheduling / Assignment Notes
- 12-hour shifts: 0645-1915 and 1845-0715
- No block scheduling
- Scheduling requests are not accommodated for travelers
- Weekend and holiday coverage depends on department needs
- May be placed on standby for low census
- Travelers float first within their skill set and may float to other med-surg units, ICU as a resource, ER holds, or sitter assignments
- 12 hours of non-billable orientation in the first work week
- Unit-specific orientation is 2 shifts
Dress Code
- Any color professional scrubs
- Tattoos above the shoulders may not be visible
- Only allowed facial piercing is a nose stud
- Hair must be clean and well-kempt
Additional Notes
- Local candidates are not accepted within a 50-mile radius
- Call-offs or cancellations may occur up to 24 hours per 13 weeks
