What the Facility Wants (Requirements & Expectations)

Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of experience required. No first-time travelers accepted. Must have LDRP experience.
  • Special Submission Requirement: Director is requesting 2 years of references for each submittal, which must be sent with the submittal email.
  • License & Certifications: Active Washington RN license, BLS, and NRP required (intermediate or advanced FHM preferred).

Clinical & Unit Overview

  • Unit Details: Birthing Center / Mother Baby unit featuring 13 L&D beds, 2 C-section OR suites, 2 triage beds, and 14 postpartum beds. Averages 170–190 births per month.
  • Patient Ratios & Care: Follows AWHONN guidelines (1:2 for L&D, 1:3–4 for couplets). Patients are 32 weeks and above (high risk, preeclampsia, diabetic, etc.).
  • Key Skills Required: Comfortable attending deliveries independently, circulating in C-sections, assisting with catching and transitioning babies, and titrating drips (Magnesium, Pitocin, Insulin).
  • Support Staff: 24/7 in-house OBGYN/hospitalist, 24/7 NNP in the nursery, 24/7 OB anesthesia provider, free charge nurses on both shifts, and 24/7 surgical tech.
  • Charting System: Centricity-perinatal (EFM) and EPIC (orientation includes an 8-hour EPIC class).

Scheduling & Unit Policies

  • Weekends & Holidays: Every other weekend requirement (Nights: Fri & Sat); rotate holidays with permanent staff. Standby response time is 45 minutes when placed.
  • Floating Requirements: Floating is restricted to Mother Baby and postpartum (all one unit). No floating to NICU or outside the department; labor travelers must function in postpartum with routine mom/baby competencies.

Th recruiters are super nice and helpful.

Cons

Lack benefits and perks other companies offer. Was incorrectly paid more than once. The assignment was the worst I’ve experienced from management down to housekeeping. They nitpick travelers on every level and give them double the respiratory therapist to patient ratio with every assignment spread over multiple floors and areas on every side of the facility. Staff makes no attempt at teamwork. Bottom line: Malone is ok🥴 but has MUCH room to improve. Elizabethtown, KY is awful and puts their patients and your license at risk every shift. Don’t do it!
