Position: RN – Nursing Leadership / Unit Supervisor
Location: Lodi, CA
Hospital: 190-bed acute care hospital
Department: Nursing / Clinical Operations
Schedule: Assigned Shift / Daily Unit Operations

 

Job Summary

The Nursing Leader is responsible for overseeing daily clinical operations and creating a safe, patient-centered environment where nurses and ancillary staff provide high-quality, whole-person care. This role maintains a visible presence on the unit and works closely with nurses, charge nurses, physicians, and department leaders to ensure efficient operations and excellent patient, family, and staff satisfaction.

The position supervises and directs nursing and ancillary personnel, coordinates daily unit activities, supports leadership initiatives, and helps achieve unit and organizational goals.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise nursing and ancillary staff on the assigned unit and shift.
  • Coordinate daily clinical and operational activities.
  • Maintain a visible and supportive presence on the unit.
  • Promote patient safety, quality of care, and regulatory compliance.
  • Recruit, retain, coach, and develop high-performing clinical teams.
  • Work with charge nurses, unit champions, and clinical educators to identify staff education needs.
  • Conduct employee evaluations and address performance or attendance concerns.
  • Develop action plans with staff to improve clinical outcomes and patient safety.
  • Promote open communication among staff, physicians, patients, and leadership.
  • Develop strategies to improve patient, family, and physician satisfaction.
  • Establish and maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
  • Use independent judgment and discretion in clinical and supervisory situations.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent combination of education and related experience – Required
  • Master’s Degree – Preferred

Experience:

  • 2+ years of acute care nursing experience in a hospital setting – Preferred
  • 1+ year of leadership experience – Preferred
  • 5 years of technical experience – Preferred

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice – Required
  • CPR or BLS certification from an approved vendor – Preferred
  • National specialty certification in area of expertise or nursing administration – Preferred
