Are you an experienced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RN looking for a travel assignment that offers clinical variety, supportive resources, and a consistent night-shift schedule?
This MS/Tele Float RN opportunity in St. Louis, Missouri is ideal for nurses who enjoy working across multiple acute-care specialties and are confident adapting to different patient populations and unit environments.
You’ll have the opportunity to float across medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, renal, and cardiology units, providing care within your scope of practice while expanding your clinical experience.

🩺 Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients
- Care for patients across medical-surgical and telemetry units
- Monitor patients using remote telemetry
- Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
- Participate in rapid response and code team interventions
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments
- Administer medications and IV therapies safely
- Start and maintain peripheral IVs
- Provide central line care and management
- Perform phlebotomy
- Provide wound care and wound VAC management
- Manage surgical drains
- Provide feeding tube care and management
- Administer oxygen therapy, including nasal cannula and HFNC
- Interpret ABGs and recognize changes in respiratory status
- Care for patients with neurological conditions, including CVA
- Care for post-operative and orthopedic patients, including total joint replacement
- Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols
- Manage PCA therapy when applicable
- Utilize bladder scanners and patient lift equipment
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary support services
- Float between assigned units according to facility needs and within clinical scope
🏥 Float Units & Clinical Environment
This is a true MS/Tele Float position. Nurses may float between:
- Medical units
- Medical-Surgical units
- Surgical units
- Medical Oncology
- Neuro
- Renal
- Cardiology
The facility will communicate any pre-assigned unit and timeframe when applicable.
For nurses remaining in the float pool, unit assignments may be provided through the facility’s recorded assignment line up to one hour before the scheduled shift.
Flexibility and comfort working across multiple adult acute-care units are essential for this role.

Daily Census: Approximately 28–50 patients depending on the assigned unit.

- Days: 1:5–6
- Nights: 1:6
- Weekends: 1:5–6

🎓 Requirements
- Active RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent MS/Tele experience — required
- BLS required
- ACLS required
- IV start experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- NIHSS preferred
- Strong acute-care assessment and clinical judgment skills
- Ability to float across multiple medical specialties
- Comfortable caring for adult and geriatric patients
Previous travel experience is not required. First-time travelers are welcome!
🌙 Schedule & Weekend Requirements
- Night Shift
- 3 × 12-hour shifts
- 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- No block scheduling
- No on-call requirement
- Every other weekend OR minimum of 6 weekend shifts during the 6-week scheduling period
- Holiday rotation required
