Description
Med Surg - ACU RN
Location: IHS facility, Chinle, AZ 86503
- Inpatient Medical-Surgical Adult Care Unit (ACU) Department
Shift:
- 12-hour shifts with a 30-minute meal break
- 7 shifts per 2-week period (not consecutive)
- May include weekends and Federal holidays
- Rotating day and night shifts based on unit staffing needs
Contract Length: 3 months (Option to extend)
Estimated Start Date: Pending Award and Completion of Credentialing Process
Hourly Pay Rate: $50
Weekly travel stipends (if applicable): $1,246
Benefits:
- Health and Welfare: $5.09/hr (Up to 40 hours worked per week)
- PTO: 5 days after 6 months, an additional 5 days at 1 year of service
- Accrued sick days: 1 hour for every 36 hours worked
- 11 Paid Holidays: Following the Government calendar throughout the year
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med Surg RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in an inpatient Adult Care Unit. The ideal candidate will deliver individualized, culturally sensitive care while collaborating with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to support positive patient outcomes.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an approved professional nursing program
- Minimum of 36 months of nursing experience, including at least 24 months of Medical-Surgical experience
- Current, active, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state or territory
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient care skills
- Ability to meet IHS credentialing and background requirements
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care to adult inpatients.
- Assess patient conditions and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Monitor patients for changes or complications and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Administer medications safely and monitor for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and follow controlled-substance policies.
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care.
- Provide culturally sensitive care that addresses patients' physical, emotional, and social needs.
- Participate in quality improvement and multidisciplinary initiatives.
