Pharmacist
Position Summary
The Pharmacist is responsible for accurately verifying and dispensing medication orders, monitoring patient medication therapies, providing clinical drug information, identifying and resolving potential medication safety issues, documenting clinical interactions, and supervising pharmacy support personnel.
Schedule
- Shift: Day
- Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off
- Hours: 7:30 AM–6:00 PM
- Overnight On-Call: 6:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Overnight on-call coverage is required for 6–7 consecutive nights, aligned with the Adventist Health two-week pay period.
- Experience: At least 1 year preferred
- BLS: Required
- Epic experience: Required
Key Responsibilities
- Verify and accurately fill medication orders in accordance with established pharmacy procedures.
- Monitor patient medication therapies for safety, effectiveness, and appropriateness.
- Provide accurate and timely drug information to physicians, nurses, patients, and other healthcare professionals.
- Identify, evaluate, and troubleshoot potential medication safety hazards.
- Document medication-related interventions and clinical interactions for medical review and continuity of care.
- Supervise and direct pharmacy support personnel to ensure safe and efficient pharmacy operations.
- Maintain compliance with applicable pharmacy regulations, policies, and professional standards.
Education & Experience
- Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy – Required
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree – Preferred
- At least 1 year of technical/pharmacy experience – Preferred
- Inpatient clinical pharmacy experience – Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
- Current Pharmacist License in the state of practice – Required
- All state-required licenses and certifications necessary to perform the duties of a Pharmacist – Required
- BLS certification – Required
