Description
UNIT: ICU
Minimal Experience:
2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred
If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel and have significant RN experience outside of ICU, will consider.
Minimum one prior travel assignment completed.
Required Certifications:
BLS,, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (REQUIRED) – must be willing to obtain TNCC certification prior to arrival (We reimburse the cost)
General Information:
* Beds: 39 – MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU – mixed unit- All one ICU divided into pods- would not float into CVICU side unless experienced in that unit/specialty
Patient Types:
* Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
* Diagnoses include but are not limited to: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma – heavy trauma population
* Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR – 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers
* Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this – given to permanent staff
Patient Ratios:
RN: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 (rare) – acuity dependent
Skills required:
* Epic experience
* Comfortability working a 48hr/week contract – this is not negotiable for this unit
* Experience with the above-mentioned patients
* Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry, strong critical thinking and assessment skills, working well in team setting, comfortable in fast pace setting with all critical patients.
* Impella, IABP and CRRT – strongly preferred
Support on the Unit:
* CNA: 1-2 Nurse Aide’s per unit + mobility float aide
* Charge nurse: 2 CRN’s oversee all ICUs
* Phlebotomy? Yes, peripheral blood draws only
* IV/VAT Team? ICU CRNs place all midlines
* Resource Nurse: Yes, staffing dependent
* RT: Yes, 24/7
* Physicians: 3 Intensivists on days, 2 on nights + APP on nights
