Description
Pediatric Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU)
Location: IHS Facility in Chinle, AZ 86503
Shift:
- Day Shift: 11.5 hours with a 1-hour lunch break
- Night Shift: 12 hours with a 30-minute lunch break
- 7 shifts per 2-week period
- May include weekends and Federal holidays
- Rotating day and night shifts based on unit staffing needs
Contract Length: 3 months (option to extend)
Estimated Start Date: Pending Award and Completion of Credentialing Process
Compensation:
- Hourly Rate: $50
- Travel weekly stipends: $1,246
- Please keep in mind that payroll is processed on a biweekly basis.
Benefits:
- Health and Welfare: $5.09/hr (Up to 40 hours worked per week)
- PTO: 5 days after 6 months, an additional 5 days at 1 year of service
- Accrued sick days: 1 hour for every 36 hours worked
- 11 Paid Holidays: Following the Government calendar throughout the year
Requirements:
- Graduate of an approved professional nursing program
- Minimum of 36 months of nursing experience, including at least 12 months of pediatric nursing experience
- Current, active, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state or territory
- Current BLS and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association
- ACLS, NRP, TNCC, or specialty certifications preferred, as applicable
- Strong pediatric assessment and clinical care skills
- Ability to meet IHS credentialing and background requirements
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients in the inpatient setting
- Assess patient conditions, monitor changes, and implement appropriate nursing interventions
- Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in the EHR
- Provide culturally sensitive, family-centered care while maintaining patient safety and infection control standards
- Participate in quality improvement and multidisciplinary initiatives
