important Requirements

• Flu vaccine is required. Only a medical exemption is accepted, with documented evidence from a healthcare provider showing a previous severe reaction to the vaccine.
• Fingerprinting is required.
  • Remote process: Allow approximately 10 days.
  • In-person: Can be completed at the Jackson or Grenada campus during the week before the start date.
• EPIC experience is a hard requirement. The traveler must be proficient in EPIC charting. There is zero EPIC training provided.
• Minimum 2 years of experience required.

UMMC OR Traveler Position – Requirements & Details

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 6:45 AM–3:15 PM
• Call: 2 weekdays per week and 1 weekend per month

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS (required if working pediatric cases)

Facility Information

• 67 beds
• 4 operating rooms
• 1 procedure room
• Approximately 15–22 cases per day

Surgical Experience Needed
Experience with:

• General surgery
• Orthopedic fractures and scopes
• Plastics
• GI
• Urology
• Pediatric dental
• Surgical oncology

Hip and knee totals are not required for orthopedic experience.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Scrubbing and circulating: Not required for RN position
• Floating: No
• Call: Yes, as noted above

Systems

• Medication system: Omnicell
• Charting system: Epic

Orientation

• On-unit orientation
• HealthStream virtual education
• Approximately 1 week of unit orientation
• Any required testing/study materials will be provided as applicable
