Facility: Carle Foundation Hospital

Department: Therapy – Acute
Job Type: Contract – 13 Weeks

Shift: Days
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Hours: 40 hours/week
Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend per month
Holiday Requirement: No holidays

Job Description

Seeking an experienced or newly graduated Physical Therapist (PT) to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment to acute-care patients of all ages. The PT will develop individualized plans of care, monitor patient progress, provide education, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary medical team to promote safe and effective patient outcomes and discharge planning.

Responsibilities

Evaluate patients and develop individualized physical therapy plans of care.
Provide therapeutic interventions based on patient needs, functional limitations, and clinical findings.
Modify treatment plans based on patient response and progress.
Perform safe patient transfers and demonstrate appropriate body mechanics.
Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare staff regarding therapy, mobility, and discharge needs.
Utilize standardized outcome measures to assess functional performance.
Document evaluations, treatments, progress, and discharge recommendations accurately.
Communicate patient status, mobility recommendations, equipment needs, and discharge plans to the medical team.
Supervise and provide guidance to PTAs and rehabilitation technicians as required.
Follow regulatory, organizational, and professional standards of practice.
Maintain a respectful, compassionate, and patient-centered approach.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
Illinois Physical Therapist License
BLS – American Heart Association
New graduates are welcome to apply
Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and patient-care skills
Ability to work effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team
Weekend coverage: 1 weekend per month
13-week contract
