Exciting Opportunity with PediaStaff: 1:1 School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) in Hillside, IL

We're currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide 1:1 nursing support for an elementary-aged student with complex medical needs in Hillside, IL for the 2026-2027 school year.
Job Details
- Pay: $50-$55 per hour
- Location: Hillside, IL 60162
- School: Menta Academy Hillside
- Dates: September 7, 2026 - June 12, 2027
- Hours: Approximately 32 hours per week
- Student: Elementary-aged
- Schedule: Student attends approximately 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM
- Setting: 1:1 school-based nursing
- Nurse may also be required to ride school transportation with the student
Student Medical Needs
The RN will provide dedicated 1:1 care for a medically complex elementary student with:
- Ventilator dependence
- Tracheostomy
- G-tube/enteral feeding
- Seizure disorder
- Ongoing monitoring and medically prescribed nursing care throughout the school day
- Potential transportation/bus nursing support
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct 1:1 nursing care and continuous monitoring throughout the school day
- Provide appropriate ventilator and tracheostomy care
- Manage G-tube feedings and related care
- Monitor for seizure activity and follow the student's emergency/seizure action plan
- Administer medications and maintain accurate medication administration records
- Provide first aid and emergency nursing care as needed
- Maintain accurate nursing documentation and service logs
- Monitor changes in the student's health and communicate concerns appropriately
- Collaborate with parents, physicians, teachers, therapists, administrators, and other members of the student's educational team
- Develop and follow Individual Health Care Plans (IHCPs)
- Maintain compliance with applicable school health requirements and state and federal regulations
- Accompany the student on school transportation if required
Qualifications
- Current and active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Ventilator and tracheostomy experience strongly preferred
- Experience with G-tubes and seizure management strongly preferred
- Pediatric, school-based, home health, private duty, or medically complex patient experience preferred
- Ability to respond confidently and appropriately to medical emergencies
- Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
- Experience working with students with special education, behavioral, or mental health needs is a plus
