Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care to adult and geriatric patients in an acute-care environment. The unit provides care for patients with medical, surgical, and telemetry needs.

The ideal candidate should have strong acute-care experience, excellent clinical assessment skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Requirements

• 2 years of RN experience required
• Active California RN License required
• BLS required
• ACLS required
• NIHSS required
• Epic experience required
• Acute-care/Medical Surgical experience preferred
• First-time travelers are welcome

Schedule

• 3×12-hour day shifts
• Hours: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
• Variable days of the week
• Every other weekend
• No on-call requirement
• Floating may be required based on facility needs
• No block scheduling

Patient Population & Unit

The 32-bed unit provides care for:

• Medical patients
• Surgical patients
• Telemetry patients
• Adult patients
• Geriatric patients

Clinical Responsibilities

The RN should be comfortable with:

• Monitoring and documenting vital signs
• Recognizing changes in patient condition
• Cardiac arrest recognition
• Fluid restrictions
• NPO status
• Limb restrictions
• Safe patient transfers
• Fall and pressure-injury prevention
• Medication and patient care procedures
• Catheter care
• Urine and stool specimen collection
• Drain monitoring and documentation
• Oxygen and pulse oximetry
• Incentive spirometry
• Patient positioning and repositioning
• Infection control and isolation precautions
• PPE use
• Patient hygiene and activities of daily living
• Accurate intake/output documentation

Equipment & Patient Care Skills

Experience with:

• Hoyer lifts
• Wheelchairs and transfer equipment
• Specialty beds and air mattresses
• Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs)
• Bed alarms
• Oxygen equipment
• Pulse oximetry
• Transfer belts and sliding boards
• Bedside commodes
• Electronic vital-sign equipment
• Antiembolic stockings

Important Candidate Requirements

Candidates must have 2 years of RN experience, an active California RN License, and the required BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications. Epic experience is required, and candidates must be comfortable working variable day shifts, every other weekend, and floating as needed.
