Description

Cath Lab Technician:

 

Shift: 4x10s, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM
Experience: Minimum 2+ years of recent Cath Lab experience
Call: Every 6th weekend + one weeknight call shift each week
Holidays: Must be willing to work holidays
RTO: Maximum 7 days
 

Position Overview:

The Cath Lab Technician works under physician supervision to support diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures. The technologist operates fluoroscopic imaging equipment, provides scrub assistance to cardiologists, monitors patients, and assists with the safe and successful completion of invasive procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate fluoroscopic imaging equipment during cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures.
  • Provide scrub assistance to cardiologists during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
  • Assist physicians with invasive procedures using catheters, guide wires, and other specialized equipment.
  • Provide appropriate patient care and recognize changes in patient condition during procedures.
  • Monitor pressure measurements and cardiovascular status.
  • Perform and interpret EKGs as required.
  • Enter procedural events and clinical information into the hemodynamic monitoring system.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and follow radiation safety practices.
  • Prepare and operate Cath Lab equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with patient positioning, lifting, and transfers.
  • Maintain accurate patient records using computerized systems.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Work independently while exercising appropriate professional judgment.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Cath Lab team to support patient care and departmental goals.

Education & Certification

  • Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • ARRT (R) certification required.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required from AHA

Licensure:

  • Must hold a current Ohio Department of Health (ODH) license to operate equipment that generates ionizing radiation.
  • Must maintain licensure in accordance with applicable Ohio regulations.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Cath Lab experience required.
  • Two or more years of Radiologic Technologist experience in diagnostic radiology, special procedures, Cath Lab, or EP Lab preferred.
  • Strong experience assisting with cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures is highly preferred.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Cath Lab equipment, catheters, guide wires, and related devices.
  • Strong clinical skills to assist physicians with invasive procedures.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
  • Knowledge of pressure monitoring and hemodynamic systems.
  • EKG interpretation skills.
  • Understanding of aseptic technique and radiation safety.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to safely lift, position, and transfer patients.
  • Proficiency with computer and electronic patient record systems.
  • Ability to work independently within established procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide/receive constructive feedback.
