Description
Travel RN – Labor & Delivery / Postpartum
Shift: 12-Hour Variable
Shift Times:
- Day: 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM
- Night: 6:30 PM – 6:30 AM
- Must be willing to work both days and nights during the contract
Contract: 110 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Weekend: Every other weekend
Call: None
Holidays: As needed
Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Parking: Free
First-Time Travelers: Accepted
RTO: None requested
🏥 Unit Details
- Labor & Delivery: 10 beds
- OB ED/Triage: 4 beds
- Antepartum: 4 rooms
- ORs: 2
- Mother/Baby: 20 beds
- Nursery available; couplet care is encouraged
- Facility has the only Level 3 NICU within a 350-mile radius
- Caring for both high-risk and low-intervention pregnancies
👩⚕️ Patient Population
- Labor & Delivery

- Postpartum and couplet care
- Newborn nursery
- NICU feeder/growers
- Pediatric patients
- GYN surgical patients
Common cases include:
- Pre-eclampsia
- Hypertension
- Magnesium sulfate patients
- Late-preterm infants
- Bilirubin/jaundice babies
- NAS scoring
- Blood sugar monitoring
- Post-surgical/GYN patients such as hysterectomy and ovarian cyst cases
👩⚕️ Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience OR 2 years of Postpartum/GYN experience
- Must have experience caring for mother/baby couplets
- Must have GYN surgical experience
- Level 2 nursery experience preferred
- EPIC experience
📋 Required Certifications
- BLS
- NRP
Preferred for LD-trained candidates:
- ACLS
- Inpatient Obstetrics certification
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification
- Inpatient Antepartum certification
💉 Required Skills
- IV starts
- Phlebotomy
- Magnesium sulfate administration
- Blood administration
- Insulin drips
- Couplets/postpartum care
- GYN surgical care
If LD trained:
- Circulating C-sections
- C-section recovery
- Cervical checks
👥 Patient Ratios
- Antepartum: 1:3
- Inactive Labor: 1:2
- Active Labor: 1:1
- Postpartum/Couplet: Generally 1:3 couplets, up to 1:4 when needed
- NICU feeder/grower: 1:3
- Pediatrics: Up to 1:5
🔄 Floating
Floating is required for all travelers.
Candidates may be asked to float to:
- Labor & Delivery
- NICU
- Pediatrics
- PICU
Floating needs will depend on unit requirements.
