Special Education Teacher – K-12

Schedule: Traditional K-12 school schedule
Assignment: 0.5 at Andrews Elementary School / 0.5 at Rosemary
Contract: 37 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 37.5

Position Summary

The Special Education Teacher will provide special education services in accordance with school district policies and federal, state, and local guidelines. Responsibilities include case management, developing and implementing IEPs, coordinating IEP meetings, behavior intervention planning, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

The teacher may also be assigned related Special Education roles such as Process Coordinator, Academic Evaluator, Case Manager, or Teacher of Record, depending on district needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage special education caseloads and student services.
• Develop, implement, and oversee Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Schedule and facilitate IEP meetings.
• Prepare progress reports and other required special education documentation.
• Develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
• Participate in problem-solving and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Supervise and provide direction to paraprofessionals, new teachers, or other assigned personnel.
• Ensure students receive appropriate special education services in compliance with federal and state requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Holds or is eligible for a teaching license with the appropriate endorsement.
• Knowledge of specialized curriculum and individualized instructional methodologies.
• Ability to effectively support students with diverse learning needs.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
