🩻 Position Overview

The CT Technologist performs a variety of computed tomography procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

The technologist is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining patient safety, following established protocols, and providing compassionate care throughout the examination.

You will use independent judgment and technical expertise to operate CT equipment, evaluate images, administer contrast as appropriate, and ensure exams are completed accurately and efficiently.

  • Perform CT examinations according to established department protocols.
  • Maintain competency in required clinical and technical CT functions.
  • Operate CT equipment and associated information systems appropriately.
  • Verify patient identification and physician orders before examinations.
  • Prepare patients for CT procedures and provide appropriate instructions.
  • Select and perform examinations according to established protocols.
  • Review images for quality, clarity, accuracy, and appropriate anatomical coverage.
  • Recognize when additional images or adjustments may be necessary.
  • Follow radiation safety practices to protect patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Complete examinations within expected timeframes without compromising patient care or image quality.
  • Provide patient education regarding the procedure.
  • Promote patient comfort and address patient or family concerns.
  • Communicate pertinent clinical information with other healthcare providers.
  • Follow appropriate infection-control and sterile-technique practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of examinations, patient information, and adverse reactions or incidents.
  • Follow medical-necessity, coding, charging, and consent requirements.
  • Participate in applicable quality-control programs.
  • Identify and report equipment failures or technical problems.
  • Administer contrast media according to established protocols and appropriate supervision.
  • Operate contrast injectors as applicable.
  • Educate patients regarding safety considerations related to contrast administration.

Required

  • ARRT(R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • BLS – Basic Life Support
  • Current license in the state of practice, as applicable
  • Associate degree required
  • Strong knowledge of CT imaging techniques and protocols
  • Demonstrated sectional anatomy and positioning competency

Preferred

  • ARRT(R)(CT) – Certified Computed Tomography Technologist
  • 1–2 years of CT experience
  • 1–2 years of acute-care/hospital experience
  • For applicable Colorado positions, fluoroscopy certification may be preferred/required based on role requirements.
