Registered Nurse II – Ambulatory & Urgent Care

Four Corners Regional Health Center |  Red Mesa, AZ  |  Full Time

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)  |  No weekends or federal holidays

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse II to provide ambulatory and urgent care nursing services at Four Corners Regional Health Center in Red Mesa, Arizona, supporting the Indian Health Service's Navajo Area, Shiprock Service Unit. This is a non-personal services nursing assignment delivering outpatient and urgent care to American Indian and Alaska Native patients, with occasional cross-coverage in Medical/Surgical and other nursing units as patient care needs require. This is a remote, medically underserved community assignment in a facility working to close a significant nursing coverage gap.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement patient care plans through assessment, evaluation, and interviews with patients and family members

- Interpret vital findings for emergent situations, administer treatments as directed, and provide patient education and instruction

- Deliver ambulatory and urgent care nursing for patients with congestive heart failure and other cardiac conditions, hypertensive disorders, diabetes, infectious disease, chronic conditions, and autoimmune disease, including pediatric and maternal patients

- Support Medical/Surgical coverage as needed: admission and assessment of acute, chronic, surgical, and palliative care patients; starting IVs; lab draws; immunizations; and assisting providers with procedures such as lumbar punctures, paracentesis, and exam chaperoning

- Float to other nursing departments as needed to support patient care continuity (e.g., sitter duty, patient transports)

- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of all observations and interventions in the patient health record

- Complete facility-specific competency validations and comply with IHS/NNMC nursing standards, HIPAA, and patient rights requirements

Qualifications & Experience

- Minimum of 24 months of nursing experience, including at least 2 years in Ambulatory Care or Medical/Surgical nursing

- Current, valid, unrestricted RN license (any U.S. state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory)

- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; PALS, ACLS, TNCC/ATCN, or NLS preferred

- Up-to-date immunization documentation (MMR, Hepatitis B, varicella, Tdap, TB screening, and seasonal influenza per IHS policy)

- Ability to pass a required background investigation and provide a fitness-for-duty medical evaluation

- Valid driver's license if position requires travel between facilities

- Basic computer/EHR proficiency, effective English communication skills, and cultural sensitivity to American Indian and Alaska Native patient populations

Compensation

$70–$80/hour, depending on experience and certifications. Rate reflects a blended package of taxable hourly wages and non-taxable per diem (lodging and meals) for qualifying travelers. A one-time travel reimbursement is also available. On-site government housing may be available for this assignment.

Application Process

To apply, please submit your resume, current unrestricted RN license, current BLS certification, and three (3) professional references.

We are an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates and are committed to providing an inclusive and accessible recruitment process. Accommodations are available upon request at any stage of the hiring process.
