Registered Nurse – Med/Surg
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Med/Surg team. The RN will provide safe, compassionate, and efficient patient care while managing an assigned group of patients throughout the shift. The ideal candidate is a strong critical thinker who works well independently and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Complete initial patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care based on patient and family needs.
- Implement nursing interventions and modify the plan of care based on ongoing patient assessment.
- Monitor patient conditions, interpret vital signs, and recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient status.
- Administer medications following the 5 Rights of Medication Administration: right patient, right medication, right route, right dose, and right time.
- Complete and document required nursing care, assessments, care plans, patient education, hourly rounding, admissions, and discharges.
- Ensure physician/provider orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with Med/Surg nursing standards.
- Participate in bedside shift report, including patient updates, safety checks, and communication board updates.
- Delegate appropriate patient care tasks to healthcare technicians (HCTs) and follow up to ensure completion.
- Maintain patient safety by following fall precautions, pressure injury prevention measures, isolation precautions, and safe ambulation practices.
- Respond promptly to patient call lights and appropriately triage patient requests and medical needs.
- Facilitate timely testing, treatment, admissions, and discharges, particularly for Observation patients.
- Effectively manage time and prioritize care in a fast-paced Med/Surg environment.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, technicians, patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Promote interdisciplinary collaboration, patient-centered care, and a positive healing environment.
- Identify and report safety hazards or incidents and take appropriate action to protect patients and staff.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude while contributing to a healthy work environment.
- Participate in departmental competencies and maintain current knowledge and clinical skills.
- Provide constructive feedback and collaborate with colleagues to support professional development.

- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Recent Med/Surg experience
