Description
Cath Lab Technologist
Position: Cath Lab Technologist
Department: Cardiology / Cath Lab
Experience: Current Cath Lab Experience Required
Travelers: First-Time Travelers Welcome
Schedule: 10-hour or 12-hour shifts available
Scheduling: Block scheduling may be available Friday–Sunday
Call: Approximately 1 weekday per week
Weekend Call: 1 weekend per month
Weekend Call Window: Friday evening through Monday morning
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cath Lab Technologist to join a high-volume cardiovascular team. This is a great opportunity for experienced Cath Lab Techs, and first-time travelers are welcome to apply.
The ideal candidate will have current Cath Lab experience and be comfortable working with complex cardiac, coronary, vascular, peripheral, IR, and neuro-interventional procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Scrub and assist with cardiac and vascular procedures.
- Monitor hemodynamics and support procedural workflow.
- Work collaboratively with RNs, physicians, and other Cath Lab staff.
- Assist with emergent and inpatient procedures, including STEMI cases.
- Demonstrate competency with procedural processes and sterile technique.
- Support cases requiring conscious/moderate sedation and airway management.
- Safely manage and monitor patients receiving cardiac medications and drips.
- Assist with procedures involving IABP/balloon pump support.
- Participate in scheduled weekday and weekend call rotations.
- Maintain radiation safety and follow all department protocols.
Cath Lab / Suite Details
- 5 Procedural Suites
- 2 suites primarily for coronary cases
- 1 suite for peripheral cases
- 1 suite for vascular & neuro-interventional procedures
- 1 suite for EP procedures
- Average Volume: Approximately 10–22 cases per day
- Cases are generally staffed with 2 Technologists:
- 1 Tech scrubs
- 1 Tech monitors hemodynamics and assists with the procedure
- An additional RN or Tech may be assigned depending on case complexity.
- A Lead Tech coordinates room assignments.
Required Certifications
- ARRT
- Fluoroscopy Certification
- BLS
Important: RCIS and CCT certifications are not accepted for this position.
Required Skills & Experience
- Current Cath Lab experience required
- STEMI receiving-facility experience
- Cardiac/Coronary procedures
- Vascular & Peripheral procedures
- General Interventional Radiology
- Neuro-interventional procedures
- Conscious & moderate sedation
- Airway management
- Cardiac drips, including Integrilin, dopamine, and vasopressors
- Balloon pump/IABP experience
