Location

• Bridgeport, West Virginia

Contract

• 13 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour night shifts

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS and ACLS certification
• Must pass a cardiac rhythm exam
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Must submit an unexpired driver’s license
• Must live within 50 miles of the assignment

Schedule

• Every other weekend
• Holidays are worked into the rotation with permanent staff

Unit Details

• Float pool assignment covering multiple med-surg/telemetry units
• Most frequent float units have 36 beds and 29 beds; other float units include 36-bed and 20-bed areas
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6, with occasional 1:7 late in the shift depending on acuity
• CNAs are available
• Monitor techs are available on most units
• Respiratory support includes CPAP and BiPAP, managed by respiratory therapy
• Nurses do not titrate drips
• Orientation is 1-2 shifts with a preceptor

Additional Notes

• Royal blue scrubs are required
• Travelers report to the clinical coordinator’s office before shift start for unit assignment
• Assignment may include basic telemetry patients within scope of practice
