Schedule: Choice of 3x12 or 4x12 available; Every Other Weekend (EOW) and Every Other Holiday (EOH) required

Call Requirement: No on-call required
Note: Required: ACLS, NIHSS, CHARGE and Precepting. It is possible they will be in a charge role or precepting nearly every shift. Will accept 48 hour guarantees. Auto Offer. Shift: Nights. Weekends Required: EOW. Holidays Required: EOH.

Position Overview:
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Job duties:

• Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self; attends education programs based on identified learning needs and assesses readiness to learn of patient/family/caregivers.
• Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care, including appropriate physical, psychosocial, education and safety needs, and synthesizes assessment data prior to communication with others.
• Collaborates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care, makes use of available multidisciplinary resources, and identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care.
• Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, including population-appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational and safety aspects of care, and performs bedside point of care testing as required.
• Participates in discussion with members of the interdisciplinary team in evaluation of patient care, communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care, and participates in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.

Requirements:
License: NC State License or Compact License.
Experience: One (1) year of PCU experience.
Certifications: BLS, ACLS & NIHSS
Other requirement: CHARGE and Precepting preferred.

Unit Details:
Unit: 53965396 : Intermediate Neuro ENT Care UnitUNC Medical Center – UNC Health; 18-bed unit, including 4 epilepsy monitoring beds.
Patient Ratios: 1:4
Patient Population: Stroke, tumors, epilepsy, spine injury, neuromuscular and neurodegenerative conditions, neurotrauma, CNS infections, and ENT malignancies.
Patient Diagnoses: Stroke, tumors, epilepsy, spine injury, neuromuscular and neurodegenerative conditions, neurotrauma, CNS infections, and ENT malignancies.
