Description

MedNinjas is seeking an experienced Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner for an ongoing locum or locum-to-permanent assignment in Midlothian, Virginia. The provider will work three shifts per week in a busy outpatient urgent care setting treating patients of all ages.

Assignment Details

Schedule: Three shifts per week
Hours: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Setting: 100% outpatient urgent care
Patient population: Pediatric through geriatric
Patient volume: Approximately 25 to 50 patients per day
Weekend coverage required
No call
EMR: Epic
Start: As soon as credentialed
Credentialing timeframe: Approximately 60 to 90 days
Temporary privileges are not available
Locum-to-permanent opportunity available

Required Skills and Procedures

The provider must be comfortable independently performing:

Simple, intermediate, and complex laceration repair
Suturing and stapling
Incision and drainage, including packing
Foreign-body removal
Minor burn and skin-lesion care
Splinting and casting
Joint reduction
Orthopedic and injury stabilization
X-ray interpretation
EKG evaluation
Point-of-care lab interpretation
Rapid strep, flu, COVID-19, RSV, urinalysis, and glucose testing
Epistaxis management
Cerumen-impaction removal
Nebulizer treatments
Initial emergency stabilization

Higher-acuity patients requiring advanced treatment will be transferred to an emergency department.

Required Qualifications

Board-certified Nurse Practitioner
Active and unrestricted Virginia license
Active DEA registration
Current BLS certification
At least one year of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, emergency room, or primary care
Clean professional background
No malpractice or licensing issues
Able to work without separate travel reimbursement

Travel, lodging, and transportation expenses are not separately reimbursed. Local candidates or candidates accepting an all-inclusive rate are preferred.
