• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Weekend requirement: 3 weekends in a 6-week schedule
• Holiday rotation required

Required Qualifications

• Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• EFM / C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring)
• Last four digits of SSN
• Clinician’s middle initial
• Requested time off
• Negative drug screen for all panels
• Stabilization of the newborn
• Circulator for C/sections

Unit Details

• OB unit with 4 L&D beds, 1 LDRP bed, 1 OR suite, 1 PACU/recovery bed, 4 triage beds in the OB Flex area, and 6 postpartum beds
• FY2025 births: 647
• Follows AWHONN guidelines
• Low-risk OB patients, stable newborns 36 weeks gestation and above, and high-risk OB patients followed by MFM during pregnancy
• Level 1 perinatal/nursery designation for the State of Illinois
• Titrates drips including Pitocin and Magnesium
• Charge nurse and house supervisor both present per shift
• OB techs serve as certified nurse aides and surgical scrub techs for all C-sections
• No OB/neonatologist in house 24/7; OB physician is on call 24/7
• Newborn Peds physician on call and available 24/7
• RT equipment includes Neopuff, heated high flow nasal cannula, and CPAP for newborns
• Central monitoring for fetal, newborn, and adult monitoring
• RNs and providers read FHR strips
• Peri-gen fetal monitoring surveillance available 24/7
• Philips fetal monitoring and OBIX used for fetal monitoring

Floating

• First to float within SEMC hospitals at Ottawa and Peru
• May float between Ottawa and Peru mid-shift
• May float to OB, ICU, Med/Surg, and ED
• When floated outside scope, may be assigned as a sitter, helping hands RN, or patient care technician
• Will not float to inpatient Behavioral Health

Additional Notes

• 12 hours of non-billable orientation
• Local rate applies within 50 miles
• Call-off policy: equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift
• May be on call or standby if there is low census for the shift
• Scrub color is your choice; hospital-provided scrubs required for C-section OR care
