RN – Medical-Surgical / IMC

Trauma Level: II
Charting: Cerner
Contract: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 48 hrs/week
Shift: 12H Nights – 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
36 hrs/week: Also available
 

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years recent RN experience in a busy hospital environment
• ACLS – AHA
• BLS – AHA
• Active RN license required to submit
• BSN not required
• Must have experience with:
  • Post-cath lab patients
  • TR Band compression device management
  • Chest pain management
  • Post-cardiac surgery patients
  • Cardiac medical/surgical patients

Drips

RNs are required to titrate drips, but no vasopressors.

Common drips:

• Nitroglycerin
• Heparin
• Diltiazem
• Amiodarone
• Lasix
• Bumex
• Dobutamine

Scheduling

• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• No call/standby unless picking up an extra shift
• No self-scheduling
• Block scheduling may be available based on unit needs
• Fri/Sat/Sun option available
• Floating as needed based on census

Support

• 24/7 central telemetry monitoring; RN does not need to independently monitor strips
• Charge RN takes a modified assignment
• Nurse aides:
  • Days: 1:10
  • PM: 1:10–12
  • After 11 PM: 1:15
• RT available 24/7
• RT assists with CPAP, BiPAP, and Vapotherm/high-flow
• RN responsible for incentive spirometry

Orientation

• 1 shift HR onboarding
• 1 shift unit orientation
