ICU RN – Travel Contract

Shift: 12-Hour Days
Guaranteed Hours: 48 Hours/Week
Contract: 96 Weeks
 

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, excluding travel experience preferred.
• Candidates with 1.5 years of ICU experience plus significant RN experience outside ICU may be submitted for management approval.
• First-time travelers are not accepted.
• Minimum 1 previous travel assignment required.
• Must live 100+ miles from any Monument Health facility.
• Active South Dakota RN license required.
• Epic experience required.
• Must be comfortable working a 48-hour/week contract. Candidates unwilling to work 48 hours may be submitted for manager approval.

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• TNCC – Required
  • Candidates without TNCC must be willing to obtain it before arrival.

Clinical Experience

Experience with complex ICU patients, including:

• Medical ICU
• Surgical ICU
• Cardiac ICU
• Neuro ICU
• Trauma
• ARDS
• MI
• CVA/TIA
• COVID
• Post-cardiac catheterization
• Post-surgical patients
• Multiple-system trauma

Preferred: Cardiac experience, including CABG/TAVR patients 24–48 hours post-op.

Floating

Floating is uncommon and generally occurs only when the unit is overstaffed.

Traveler may be required to float to adult:

• Med/Surg
• Telemetry

Typical float ratio: 1:4

ICU RN candidates who are qualified to float to ED may be considered. PCU RNs qualified to float to ICU may also be considered.

Scheduling

• 48 hours/week
• Weekend rotation: Typically every other weekend, but not guaranteed
• No call
• No RTO during holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved; contract must be extended to maintain a full 13-week assignment.
• No RTO during the Sturgis Bike Rally, which occurs during the first 3 weeks of August each year.
