 Shift: 06:30 AM-03:00 AM Description:  TheRegistered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility andaccountability for a group of patients for a designated timeframe and providescare to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, theenvironment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. The RegisteredNurse is expected to perform their duties according to established standards ofcare and the core values established by the Division of Nursing. Reports toassigned Unit Director. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: STANDARDS OF CARE NursingProcess Assessment ** 1. Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing andsystematic manner, focusing on physiological, psychological and cognitivestatus of patients. Diagnosis ** 2. Analyze assessment data to determineappropriate nursing diagnoses. Outcome Identification ** 3 Identifiesappropriate expected outcomes individualized to the patient. Planning ** 4.Formulates a goal directed plan of care, which is prioritized and based ondetermined nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes. ** 5. Identifiespatient/significant other learning needs and implements appropriate measures tomeet these. Implementation ** 6. Implement care in a knowledgeable, skillful,consistent and continuous manner. ** 7. Performs documentation duties on unitand in patient record, which is timely, accurate and concise. Evaluation ** 8.Evaluates effectiveness of self, care given by all health care team members,and contribution of systems, environment, and instrumentation in progressingpatient toward outcomes PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE Quality of Care ** 9.Functions with an awareness and application of safety issues as identifiedwithin the institution. ** 10. Performs efficiently in emergency patientsituations following established protocols, remaining calm, informingappropriate people, and documenting events. ** 11. Demonstrates sound knowledgebase and actions in the care and decision making for designated patientpopulations. ** 12. Follows all Medical Center, Division of Nursing and Unitspecific Policy and Procedures. ** 13. Consistently incorporates hourlyrounding into daily practice. Performance Appraisal ** 14. Demonstrates effectivecommunication methods and skillsUnit Description: The GI RN works with Outpatients and Inpatients at bothcampuses and takes calls for Endoscopy. Will take OR nurse who has EndoscopyTraining/ experience or sole focus on Endoscopy. Day/evening shift 0630 to 1500or 0800 to 1630 variable Takes call as needed usually once a week and every 6thweekend unless there are call offs or person wants to pick up more. Able toswitch with team members as needed if providers and team/unit know when callcoverage is altered and does not leave openings in coverage. Willing to workwith candidate on flexing shift lengths and times.
