RN PICU 

Position: Registered Nurse - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Contract Length: 12 -13 Weeks
Start Date: September 28, 2026
Openings: 6

Pay Package (48 Hours)

  • Taxable Rate: $49.00/hour
  • Weekly Housing Stipend: $1,036.00
  • Weekly Meals & Incidentals Stipend: $644.00
  • Estimated Weekly Gross Package: $4,228.00

Schedule & Hours

  • 48 hours per week
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Straight Days or Straight Nights Available
  • Weekdays and weekends required
  • Every other weekend required
  • No call requirements

Unit Details

  • Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Critical Care Float Pool
  • Travelers may float between pediatric hospital locations as needed
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:1 to 1:2
  • EPIC charting system

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN License
  • BLS Certification
  • PALS Certification
  • Minimum 2 years of PICU experience, including:
    • Pre-operative PICU patients
    • Immediate post-operative PICU patients
    • Pediatric trauma patients

OR

  • Minimum 2 years Pediatric CVICU experience, including:
    • Pre-operative cardiac surgery patients
    • Immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients
    • Pre- and post-cardiac procedure patients

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS Certification
  • NRP Certification
  • Additional critical care experience (ICU, CCU, NICU, or Emergency Department)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients with life-threatening illnesses and multi-system failure
  • Coordinate and deliver family-centered care for children and adolescents
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
  • Respond effectively during emergency and crisis situations
  • Manage complex post-operative, trauma, and critical care patients

Additional Notes

  • Client interview required (phone interview with unit manager)
  • Travelers may be floated between facilities when needed
  • Shift cancellation allowance: up to 24 hours during the 12-week assignment
  • Scrub requirements: royal blue bottoms with kid-friendly or plain scrub tops
