Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac/Med-Surg Travel Assignment
- Position: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM Note: The listing displays 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, so shift timing should be confirmed.
- Start Date: ASAP
- Pay Rate: $92/hour
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks / 91 contract weeks
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week available
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 5:1; may be 6:1 occasionally
- Call Requirement: No call
- Dress Code: Ceil Blue scrubs
- Potential: Temp-to-perm possibility
Unit & Patient Population
The unit primarily cares for patients with:
- Myocardial infarction (MI)
- Congestive heart failure (CHF)
- Arrhythmias
- Peripheral vascular disease (PVD)
- Med-Surg overflow patients
Clinical Details
- Frequent management of cardiac drips
- Nurses manage cardiac drips but do not administer nitrate drips
- Candidates must be willing to float when needed
Schedule Requirements
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Required when needed
- Overtime: Not billable until after 48 hours
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of employment or a compact RN license
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- ACLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- At least 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred
- BSN preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care according to the nursing process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Deliver routine and complex care to cardiac and Med-Surg patients.
- Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols.
- Manage and monitor cardiac drips, excluding nitrate drips.
- Monitor patients for treatment effectiveness and adverse reactions.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
- Assess patient and family learning needs.
- Provide patient, family, and caregiver education.
- Address patients’ psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs.
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other healthcare providers.
- Respond effectively to changing clinical situations.
Orientation & Competency Requirements
- Experienced RNs must attend New Nurse Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
- New hires will be precepted by a trained staff member.
- Completion of organizational entry competency validation is required.
- Med-Surg-specific competency validation is required.
- Annual competency verification requirements must be completed.
- Newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency or specialized orientation program.
