MRI Technologist – Travel Contract

Facility Information:

• 64-bed hospital
• No trauma designation
• 1 MRI room
• Average volume: 12–16 patients per day
• Accepts candidates with a combination of acute care and outpatient MRI experience

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of MRI experience
• First-time travelers are not accepted
• Experience with both acute and outpatient settings is accepted
• Must be comfortable working independently
• May work solo at times, with support available nearby

Patient Types & Studies:

• Primarily adult patients
• Occasional older pediatric patients, typically 10 years and older
• Outpatient
• Inpatient
• ED
• ICU
• Med Surg
• Neuro / Stroke
• Soft Tissue Injuries
• Head / Neck / Spine
• Hips
• Oncology
• Extremities / Joints
• Abdominal
• Breast
• Prostate
• Some Angiograms

Patient Restrictions:

• No vented patients
• No monitored patients
• No cardiac MRI
• No sedation
• No pacemaker patients
• Department tries to limit patients to no more than 2 studies at a time

Required Qualifications:

• ARRT-MR OR ARMRIT
• BLS
• State License
• IV Start Experience
• Experience with the required patient types
• Ability to produce high-quality diagnostic images
• Strong communication skills
• Self-starter
• Multitasking ability
• Must be comfortable working independently

Technology & Equipment:

• EMR: Cerner
• PACS: Agfa
• MRI: 1.5 Tesla Philips Ingenia Ambition
• Philips MRI experience preferred but not required

Unit Support:

• Lead Technologists available in other modalities
• Manager/Supervisor available
• Rapid Response / Code Team
• RRT
• Radiologist onsite Wednesday and Thursday
• Radiologist coverage during normal business hours 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Separate radiology group provides coverage after 5:00 PM
• Hospitalist and ER physicians available 24/7
• No dedicated transporter for the department
• Inpatient staff typically transport patients to MRI, but the MRI Tech may occasionally assist with transportation

Floating:

• No Floating Required

Orientation:

• NEO
• First week will include orientation

Schedule:

• 40 Hours/Week
• Four 10-hour shifts
• No Weekends
• No On-Call
• Major holidays: Department Closed
• Schedule rotates:
  • Week 1: Monday–Thursday
  • Week 2: Tuesday–Friday
  • Rotation repeats
• RTO requires Manager Approval
