✨ Position Highlights

Join a collaborative LDRP/Mother-Baby team providing comprehensive care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the postpartum period. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced OB RN who enjoys caring for both mothers and newborns and is comfortable managing routine as well as higher-acuity obstetric situations.

The unit combines Labor & Delivery and Postpartum Mother-Baby care, giving you the opportunity to utilize a broad range of OB nursing skills throughout your assignment.


What You'll Do

  • Provide comprehensive care to postpartum patients following vaginal and cesarean deliveries
  • Care for mother-baby couplets and support the transition from delivery through discharge
  • Perform newborn assessments and provide routine newborn care
  • Provide breastfeeding and lactation support
  • Perform fundus, lochia, perineal and incision assessments
  • Monitor and manage postpartum patients experiencing complications
  • Care for patients with postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
  • Provide care involving magnesium sulfate therapy, antihypertensives, anticoagulation and insulin drips
  • Triage obstetrical patients and recognize changes in maternal/fetal status
  • Perform fetal monitoring and recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Assist with high-risk deliveries
  • Circulate for C-sections and recover C-section patients
  • Perform sterile vaginal examinations
  • Manage IV therapy/phlebotomy and maintain CVC/PICC lines
  • Provide newborn care including hypoglycemia management, phototherapy and thermoregulation
  • Provide discharge education and support to parents
  • Administer and monitor pain management, including epidural and general anesthesia recovery
  • Follow appropriate isolation precautions and PPE protocols
  • Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to dysrhythmias

🩺 Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience
  • Strong Mother-Baby / Postpartum experience
  • LDRP/L&D experience
  • Experience caring for vaginal and cesarean delivery patients
  • Ability to recognize and respond to changes in maternal and fetal condition
  • Travel experience not required


Certifications

Required/Preferred certifications include:

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NRP
  • Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
  • AWHONN Intermediate

  • Active New York RN license must be in hand prior to submission
  • Any requested RTO (requested time off) must be submitted before the profile is submitted
  • RTO submitted after the initial submission may not be approved
  • COVID-19 vaccination is required; medical/religious exemptions and declinations are permitted per facility guidelines

⚠️ Telemetry Assessment

As part of hospital orientation, RNs working in OB and several other clinical departments must complete a 15-question telemetry assessment and achieve a minimum score of 80%.

The assessment covers:

  • Heart blocks
  • Arrhythmias
  • Paced rhythms
  • Normal telemetry interval durations
  • Appropriate clinical interventions for rhythm abnormalities

If remediation is needed, educational material and a follow-up assessment will be provided during the first week of the assignment. Nurses are expected to independently interpret telemetry strips because dedicated telemetry technicians are not utilized.
