Location: New Haven, CT
Duration: 13 Weeks
Start Date: 10/09/2026
Shift: Day 4x10-Hour, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Hours: 40 Hours/Week

 

Job Description

Facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Oncology for an outpatient oncology practice nurse position. This is not an infusion role. The RN will provide care and support to adult and geriatric oncology patients before, during, and after treatment, as well as patients attending follow-up, pre-operative, and post-operative appointments.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to oncology patients in an outpatient clinic setting
  • Perform telephone triage and assess patient symptoms and concerns
  • Manage patient in-basket messages and communicate appropriately with providers
  • Assist providers during new and return patient visits
  • Perform pre-operative and post-operative assessments
  • Provide patient and family education and support
  • Recognize and communicate abnormal laboratory values
  • Assess and manage oncology-related symptoms and treatment side effects
  • Provide psychosocial support and symptom management
  • Care for patients with brain cancer and other oncology diagnoses
  • Assist with care and management of ports and central/implanted lines
  • Follow appropriate isolation precautions, PPE, and neutropenic precautions
  • Recognize and respond to oncologic emergencies
  • May float between oncology specialties based on facility needs

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
  • Previous oncology nursing experience
  • Previous outpatient/ambulatory clinic experience
  • Phone triage experience required
  • Travel nursing experience required
  • BLS required
  • ONS/ONCC certification required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing program
